CFX Creative - Graphic Design, Corporate Identity, Web Development Process

This page will give prospective clients a glimpse inside the process through which all of CFX Creative's projects pass during development.

Each project CFX Creative undertakes entails four unique elements. These elements make up the parts of work involved, along with the order of the development process.

During the Consultation phase, CFX gathers information about the client, their company, target audience and the project, including the following:

  • Scope of Work
  • Final Piece/Project Deliverables
  • Client's company background, product/service offerings, specialties/niche
  • Project Goals (IE: Promote company brand, sell products, gain interest of new clients)
  • Target Audience Demographics (IE: Age, Ethnicity, Income Range, Geographic Regions)
  • Colour Preferences
  • Size (For printed materials and ads)
  • Start/Completion Timeframes
  • Budget
Communication is an integral part of any project on which members of the CFX Creative team work. It is imperative to have good communication in order to attain the best possible end result on any project. This is especially true with a marketing communications piece or web site. Communication is also an element which must be present throughout the entire development process.

Our goal is to work with our clients, not for them. The best results come from a collaborative effort and we want to ensure that the work we produce is an accurate representation of what our clients envision for their company.

We strongly encourage a client to be an active participant in the development process. After all, who knows your company and its products and services better than you?

The voice with which your piece speaks to your prospective and/or current customers should be well-suited to your company and convey your image in a positive and informative manner. The client should come away feeling as if they have new and important information about your products and/or services, which keeps it in the front of their minds.

During the design phase, we develop potential concepts for the piece on which we're working. This includes brainstorming sessions with the client and among our team as well. These concepts may consist of rough sketches and/or initial computer -based drafts.

The conceptual phase is where a piece starts to take shape and the feasibility of each approach is weighed. This may include how a particular colour scheme would be perceived by the end user or how a particular tagline or layout may work better than another option.

During this phase, initial design comps are presented and the client is asked to provide feedback on what they like about a particular idea , and why they think it works best, until the final concept is chosen. This is the area where communication plays the biggest part in ensuring that a project's goals are successfully achieved.

Once a concept is chosen, the idea is polished during the next phase of the process - production.

During this phase, the approach that is chosen is refined and the layout is solidified. Once this step has been completed, new versions of design comps are presented to the client to give a better idea of how the finished piece will look. It's at this point that revisions are made and a final draft is presented.

In the case of a printed piece, printers may be contacted for quotes and the client is provided with a CD-ROM with all the files necessary to have the job printed. Supporting information on the job (its intended display characteristics, fonts used, colours chosen, etc. ) is also included to help the printer produce the piece as it was intended to appear.
